Support the Mayor’s Budget Supplemental for SFPD.

The Mayor is asking for an SFPD Budget Supplemental that will provide $27 million of immediate funding to the police department to maintain overtime police hours. Budget and Finance Committee Chair, Connie Chan, has been stalling but we believe that this item will be heard on March 15th.

This funding allows SFPD to continue to staff its efforts to meet current levels of service, disrupt drug dealing in the Tenderloin, and continue neighborhood patrols.

If it does not pass by the end of March, SFPD will have to immediately cut 10-15% of police hours and this is unacceptable.

Increasing SFPD officer overtime is a short-term remedy to our current shortage of SFPD officers is a responsible and urgently needed measure to keep San Franciscans safe.

Fully fund the District Attorney’s Office!

Supervisors Mandelman and Engardio have put forth an ordinance appropriating $199,286 of General Fund General Reserves for three new positions in the Office of the District Attorney to address open-air drug dealing in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2023.

Long-awaited cooperation between our Mayor, District Attorney, and the Police Chief has resulted in significant progress in arresting drug dealers that prey on our most vulnerable San Franciscans.

Arraignments for felony narcotic sales have nearly doubled for the second half of 2022 compared to the second half of 2021.

The District Attorney’s Office requires a small amount of additional funding to prosecute this nearly doubling of cases and we need to urge the Board of Supervisors to authorize these additional funds.

Support Supervisor Dorsey’s effort to end sanctuary for deadly drug dealers!

The last straw for many San Franciscans was watching former SF District Attorney Chesa Boudin describe how he used our Sanctuary Ordinance to protect Honduran drug dealers. A historic recall election soon followed and Boudin was resoundingly recalled.

Misuse of our Sanctuary Ordinance must stop. Enacted in 1989 to shield undocumented immigrants from being turned over to ICE by local law enforcement after reporting crime, many exemptions have been added to the law over the years including for murderers and rapists. It's now time to add deadly drug dealers to that list of those who are exempt from sanctuary protection in San Francisco.

Tell the Board of Supervisors that you demand transparency, accountability and results from the $14B budget.

Everyday San Franciscans, like us, are paying attention to the city budget, especially in light of the declining state of our streets, education, public safety, transportation and all services.  Given the seemingly endless news of corruption and wasted funds, including funds to non-existent non-profits, we want transparency and accountability.

A $748 million city budget deficit is looming over the next two years (and it could get worse) so there has never been a better time to insist that City Hall is spending every dollar wisely.

At the very least, we expect that NO organization contracting with the City should receive funds without clear expectations and demonstrable metrics of success. All non-profit contractors should be in good standing and in compliance with the requirements of the State of California, or should lose their funding.

San Franciscans deserve to see real, on-the-ground results for $14B of spending, so please help us insist that our government provide the public with a transparent and accountable budget process.
